Hemorrhoid Treatment Surgery
If your hemorrhoids have not shrunk from at-home remedies, our Triborough GI doctors may be able to help.
Procedures such as Rubber-Band Ligation and Infrared Coagulation may be used by our doctors to help shrink your hemorrhoids and ease your pain. You should consult with your doctor on the best treatment for you.
Our Staten Island, Bronx, or Brooklyn based Hemorrhoid Ligation and Infrared Coagulation Therapy specialists can schedule and perform your procedure at one of our Triborough GI clinics.
One of our board-certified GI doctors will guide you through the Hemorrhoid Ligation or Infrared Coagulation Therapy procedure and provide you with all the information you need prior to having the procedure.
For more information on Hemorrhoid Ligation and Infrared Coagulation Therapy or to schedule an appointment at our Bronx, Brooklyn or Staten Island office, please call (718) 332-0600 today!
Rubber-Band Ligation (Banding)
During a Rubber-Band Ligation procedure, your doctor will place a small rubber band over the base of your internal hemorrhoid. This will cut off the blood flow to the hemorrhoid causing it to shrink and fall off. It usually takes approximately 1 week for this procedure to work.
While this treatment can cause pain and bleeding, it has been found to be more effective than others at preventing hemorrhoids from returning.
In very rare cases this treatment may cause infection or blood clots.
Infrared Coagulation
During an Infrared Coagulation procedure, your doctor will focus an infrared light on to your hemorrhoid. The heat from the light will create scar tissue that will cut off the blood flow to the hemorrhoid.
This procedure is usually painless and side effect free. However, unlike with the Rubber-Band Ligation treatment, hemorrhoids are more likely to return.
